Celebration Cards- Relationships Matter - Pre K 3
A welcoming community of learners necessitates that all of the children are deeply known, accepted and affirmed. Fostering connections and relationships between children and adults includes acknowledging special events in each other’s lives. Throughout the year children were invited to help create special cards for friends and teachers. While the idea to make cards was teacher initiated, over time, the children became vested in the experience of giving and assumed ownership of the process. Special days (like birthdays); marked on our community calendar prompted the children to discuss the need for a card and the details that go into making a card.
How many days do we have to make a card? What does our friend like?
Working together – discussing, planning and designing a card for a friend sends the message that you matter and are important to us. This reciprocal process deepens connections and relationships ensuring that everyone feels welcomed.
