My Grandmother, my inspiration!
The first time I remember really being aware of breast cancer I was in my late 20s. My grandmother spoke to me about it; she was a survivor, and she was also a Green Bay Packer fan. My grandmother told me the importance of having yearly mammograms, even at my age. I promised her I would have them and I do. This started my journey as a volunteer at the local breast cancer walk and fundraising at work. Several years later breast cancer hit close to home again—my best friend was diagnosed. She is one tough broad; she is a survivor and I am proud to be called her friend. During this time I found out that my aunt was also diagnosed, another strong woman fighting the fight and surviving (also a Packer fan). The list has become longer and longer so when I heard about Creative Cups how could I say no? My bra is to honor these strong women who fought the fight, some still fighting. Hopefully the day will come that I will be decorating a bra, just because…. Until then I will be doing it for the fighters!
