Seeking Peace
Sometimes the things around you bring you the most peace. During the time I was going through treatments for my breast cancer, there were days when I wanted to stay in bed. I had a friend who would take me to the beach to remind that life is beautiful. Now, when I seek peace I go to the beach, sit under an umbrella and listen to the sound of the waves, reminding me that as things enter your life, when it is time, they leave your life. The butterflies represent the change in me after battling and winning the fight against breast cancer. I learned there is beauty in everything and even when you want to give up there is always something ahead. It does not matter if it is something as simple as seeing the sunrise, a butterfly finding new life as it exits its cocoon or the opening of the petals of a flower. The joy of being is to know that the small things make the most everlasting memories, the memories that make you smile to yourself: things like sitting on the beach, visiting the aquarium, standing in the middle of a butterfly garden and seeing the “Vanessa” butterfly for the first time. Seeking peace no matter what was behind you or what may lie ahead.
