Land and Sea
Land and Sea was inspired by not only the balance found in nature, but also by the comfort that can be provided by certain places. I created land and sea because I feel that the natural balance between the two is the most beautiful thing on this earth. Both have extremely beneficial healing properties to an individual. Water, whether it be in the ocean, a river, or someone’s favorite bathtub, has healing properties. Water triggers your body’s ability to relax. Being in the water gives you a feeling of weightlessness, which can help ground a person. Being on the earth helps you find your center of gravity. Land is a solid foundation for us all. It’s always here for us; it’s loving; it’s lasting.
It’s Mother Earth.
The most memorable place I have been that had both was Zion National Park in Utah. From the capitalized Emerald Pools to the spectacular grandeur of Angel’s Landing, the elements worked together to make an absolutely perfect natural environment. I chose this theme for this project because they are such simple elements, yet can do so much in helping someone feel healed, which is so important when one is going through cancer. It’s the simple comforts that can mean the most.
