Kippah Cups
Through this bra I wanted to be able to further explore my Jewish heritage. Kippah are religious cloths worn as head coverings, but I wanted to twist the conventional purpose and instead use it to cover ‘cups.’ Also, the specific kippah used in this are from various b’nai mitzvot because it is a coming of age ceremony or rite of passage, as is (although not on as grand a scale) first getting a bra. In both cases becoming a woman is the point reached and so I wanted to bring them together in this piece. Although breast cancer specifically has not affected my family, other types have hit home for me and so being able to do something that could not only help people dealing with this type of cancer, but also tie in with my family and heritage is truly wonderful.
